As a professor and Chair at the university level, I've designed curriculum for studio, graphic design, illustration, and animation. I've also taught almost every course most universities offer in undergraduate studio, graphic design, character design, and animation.
I've also worked as a free-lance illustrator, particularly in the area of children's publications for quite some time, and have worked as a scenic artist for network television, theatre (including 11 Broadway productions) and feature film over a period of 15 years.
I started singing solos when I was 9 years old and have since acquired 8 years of vocal training. I've sung in productions of the Indianapolis Opera Co., Indianapolis Symphonic Orchestra Choir, Northern Indiana Opera Association, Springfield Orchestra Choir, Huntington University Opera Workshop, Miami University Opera Workshop, as well as many church productions/choirs.
Somewhere along the line I became interested in philosophy, and began to study the influence of philosophy on the Church and how that affected its attitude toward the arts. That interest resulted in getting the Masters degree from the University of Chicago, where I studied the Renaissance and Post-Renaissance. I was accepted into 3 doctoral programs in Art History, but decided to pursue a career producing art, which led to my stint in NYC.
I'm now married and have 4 daughters, ranging from 8 to 18.
